I really liked the beginning and most of the characters, but I didn't like the cliff-hanger ending. It really felt like half a book. Too many questions weren't answered. I wish I had waited until the sequel was out before reading this. I like the setting of New Orleans, but if you've ever been to Cafe Du Monde, you would know that you can't just brush crumbs from black leggings without even mentioning the powdered sugar. It gets everywhere, I'm always careful to not wear black when I go there.
